An Israeli Zionist's Case for Christian Nationalism

What This Orthodox Jew Taught Me About America's Future

My conversation with Dr. Yoram Hazony challenged every assumption I had about nationalism, coalition building, and the future of faith in America.

As the author of “The Virtue of Nationalism” and chairman of the Edmund Burke Foundation, Hazony brings a perspective that's both devoutly Jewish and surprisingly aligned with Christian nationalism—if we're wise enough to see it.

The Liberal Religion We Didn't Know We Had

What struck me most was Hazony's insight about liberal "neutrality" as a false religion. We've been told that removing God and Scripture from public life creates neutral space where everyone can coexist. But as Hazony explained, nature abhors a vacuum.

"What they've done is they've replaced normal Christian or Jewish concern with public life with empty—empty like a vacuum," he told me. "And into that vacuum rushes neo-Marxism, gender ideology, and cultural chaos."

This isn't just political theory. I've watched this play out in the lives of men I mentor. When you raise children with "whatever makes you feel good," by the second and third generation, you get depression, addiction, and complete moral confusion.

Human beings need inherited guardrails, not endless choice.

The Coalition Christians Need to Build

Here's where Hazony surprised me: this Orthodox Jewish scholar is telling Christians they need to restore America as a Christian nation—and that serious Jews should help them do it.

"Jews need to help Christians if they want to save America rather than coming to Israel," he said bluntly. "If they want to stay, they got to help Christians turn the country around."

This isn't about conversion or compromise. It's about survival. Hazony pointed out that America was legally recognized as a Christian nation by the Supreme Court until 1947's Everson vs. Board of Education decision. The separation of church and state doctrine that's destroying our culture isn't ancient American tradition—it's a post-World War II invention.

The Real Enemies We're Ignoring

While young men on the right obsess over Jewish influence, Hazony delivered a reality check that should wake up every Christian nationalist: "There's only one country that's really threatening the United States and that's China."

As the Twitter response to this interview showed, pointing out this obvious truth makes people uncomfortable. But while we argue about Israel and Gaza, China makes our medicine, buys our farmland, and funds the neo-Marxist revolution in our universities. The Muslim Brotherhood and radical Islam represent real threats to Christian civilization in ways that Orthodox Judaism simply doesn't.

"If you can't tell the difference between someone who disagrees with you but could be your friend from someone who actually wants to destroy you," Hazony warned, "you got problems."
