The Demons Behind the Politics
Black Sun Book Club #1: Tracing neo-Nazism from 1950s mysticism to your timeline
Last summer, after the Stone Choir debacle, I providentially discovered a book that changed everything I understood about what I’d gotten mixed up in.
The first 50 pages of Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke’s Black Sun opened my eyes to a reality beyond what I’d considered: neo-Nazism isn’t just radical politics or edgy internet humor. It’s an occult religion that has set itself up in direct opposition to Christ.
This is why I started the Book Club with this particular book. What we’re seeing in our circles, including the rhetoric on X, the ideas creeping into Reformed spaces, the friends and brothers we’re losing to bitterness and rage—none of it is new.
It’s all documented. It all traces back. And it’s all deeply, explicitly spiritual.
But don’t take my word for it. You can read Black Sun for yourself.
In our first 90-minute meeting of the Book Club, we worked through the introduction and first chapter on American Neo-Nazism. I read extensively from Goodrick-Clarke’s text and connected the historical dots to what we’re witnessing today, with emphasis on:
George Lincoln Rockwell (prominently featured in the infamous White Boy Summer video)
William Luther Pierce — CalTech scientist and author of The Turner Diaries
The “14 words” by murder accomplice David Lane
Esoteric Hitlerism on social media
The internet pipeline from 4chan to your timeline.
We also had two substantive Q&A moments about the movement’s eschatology, its connection to the prison system, and painfully, what it looks like when someone you love gets caught in its grip.
If you’ve been wondering why certain ideas keep surfacing, why some brothers seem to be changing before your eyes, or how to recognize what’s actually happening around us in right-wing politics, this is where we start.
Below you’ll find the full 90-minute video discussion, plus an AI-generated summary and detailed outline to help you navigate the content.
I think even just the first few pages of the book will open your eyes.
Let’s get to work.
NEXT BOOK CLUB MEETING
